Congress inconsistent on issue of EVMs, says Omar Abdullah

Expressing faith in the electronic voting machines, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said the Congress opposes it only when results are not to its expectations.

Striking a differing note within the INDIA in a recent interview with PTI, Mr. Abdullah, whose National Conference is part of the bloc, said, “EVMs can’t be a problem only when you lose elections.”

“They are the same EVMs when you get 100-plus members of Parliament and celebrate it as a victory for your party. You can’t a few months later turn around and say don’t like them now because election results were different,” he said.
