Amid the strengthening of the monsoon spells triggered by the sudden surge of westerlies, Kerala is poised to receive a few more intense spells for the next couple of days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for eight districts – Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kannur, – warning of very heavy rains on Thursday (June 26, 2025) and a yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rains for the remaining parts of Kerala.
Meanwhile, the strengthening of winds over the Arabian Sea has led to some extreme rainfall events close to the ghat regions along the eastern side of Kerala.
