Modi Kuwait Visit: Preparations For Hala Modi Event In Full Swing Ahead Of PMs Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Kuwait, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and address critical issues concerning Indian workers. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Prime Minister will engage with the Indian diaspora and visit a labour camp to understand their challenges. “Not less than 4000-5000 Indians will interact with the PM in the diaspora event in Kuwait,” said the MEA.
Highlighting the broader agenda, the MEA stated, “PM Modi will hold a full-scale review of bilateral ties with the leadership of Kuwait.” This includes discussions on securing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Gulf countries, advancing a bilateral investment treaty, and finalising an MoU on defence cooperation.
The visit also addresses worker-related concerns, particularly following the tragic Mangaf fire incident earlier this year. “Safety of our workers is a major concern for us,” emphasised the MEA. The Indian Embassy has been inspecting worker accommodations to ensure their suitability. “Lessons have been learnt from the Mangaf incident,” the MEA added.
