The southwest monsoon, which has already covered significant parts of central, western, and eastern India in the last two days, is expected to reach parts of Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab by June 22, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

An IMD official confirmed that the monsoon could arrive in Delhi ahead of its normal onset date of June 30. Between June 20 and June 25, widespread rainfall is predicted across northwestern India, including Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The IMD attributes the swift advance of the monsoon from June 16 to 18 to low-pressure systems forming over West Bengal and Gujarat. Typically, the monsoon reaches Kerala by June 1, Mumbai by June 11, and covers the entire country by around July 8.
