'My Car Is This': Manmohan Singh's Ex-Bodyguard Recalls Former PM's Fondness For His Maruti 800

Asim Arun, an MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj Sadar, who once served as the chief of the Special Protection Group (SPG) during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister, fondly remembered the visionary’s attachment with his Maruti 800 car. In an X post, Arun described how Manmohan Singh used to “look at it to his heart’s content".

“I was his bodyguard for almost three years from 2004. The SPG has the innermost security ring for the PM – the Close Protection Team, which I had the opportunity to lead," Asim Arun wrote in the post.

“AIG CPT is the person who can never stay away from the PM. If only one bodyguard can stay with him, then this guy will be with him. In such a situation, it was my responsibility to stay with him like his shadow," he explained.
