University Professor Claims Assault By Troops In J&K's Rajouri, Probe Ordered

A probe was ordered by the Indian Army on Friday after a university professor alleged assault by troops while they were checking of vehicles at a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, reported PTI citing officials.

The incident reportedly took place near the border village of Laam late on Thursday night, and the victim, Liaqat Ali, suffered injuries to the head. A purported video of the incident has also gone viral online. The clip shows the professor bleeding.

According to an official statement by the Indian Army, it was revealed in the initial investigation that a scuffle broke out between the two after the professor tried to snatch weapons from the soldiers on duty.
