Who is Lishalliny Kanaran? Malaysian model has accused Indian priest of sexual misconduct

A television host and actor of Indian descent, Lishalliny Kanaran, has accused a Hindu priest in Malaysia of harassing her while claiming it to be a blessing. The incident happened in Sepang's Mariamman Temple last month, according to the South China Morning Post. Ms Kanaran is also the 2021 Miss Grand Malaysia winner. When she shared the incident on social media, it came to the public knowledge.

The Indian priest poured what she said was holy water from India and then touched her inappropriately, she said in her viral post. According to Sepang district police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman, the suspect is believed to be an Indian national temporarily officiating at the temple during the absence of its resident priest, reported SCMP.

According to Ms Kanaran's post, the investigating officer cautioned her against making the assault public, stating, If you do, it will be your fault [and] you'll be blamed. She decided against taking his advise, and shared the harrowing incident taking to her Instagram handle.
