Amid continuous disruptions in Parliament, Congress suggests a way forward

A group of women MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday (December 11, 2024) met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and sought “harsh” action against Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for his remarks in the House earlier in the day.

BJP member D. Purandeswari, after meeting Mr. Rijiju, said this was not the first time that Mr. Banerjee had made such comments. “He has done it earlier also,” she said.

She said it was unbecoming of an MP who also hails from a State led by a woman Chief Minister. He is habituated to speaking in a manner which is very offensive to women, she said.
